Breaking: Bay Area Bros Shocked By UnAmerican Disruption

Facebook said in a statement earlier this month that about 25% of the ads purchased by Russians during the election “were geographically targeted,” though many analysts have said they find it difficult to believe that foreign entities would have had the kind of granular knowledge of American politics necessary to target specific demographics and voting precincts.

Really?

Like, really, though?

> It’s not like “Russians” can’t conceivably read English articles and easily figure out who supports what and where.

> Brexit made it pretty clear what demographics supported that vote.

> It’s easy to extrapolate where in America you’d find similar populations who would vote similar ways.

> Lo and behold, the demographics of Trump voters largely mirrors Brexit.

>>> Why would “analysts” find that kind of “granular” knowledge so hard to imagine?

It’s some seriously egotistical thinking to have your mind blown that anyone besides Americans could be cunning and capable of research & strategy.

Article referenced:

Robert Mueller, the FBI special counsel, reportedly obtained a search warrant for records of the “inauthentic” accounts Facebook shut down earlier this month and the targeted ads these accounts purchased during the 2016 election.
