My BBC Interview on Life as a Digital Nomad

While I was in Glasgow, Scotland, a few weeks ago, I met a woman who ended up being a producer for the BBC Scotland. I’d been talking about my travels and working remotely, and she asked if I’d be interested in doing an interview. Um, yeah!

Because I was hitting the road the day after we discussed it, we decided to do it after my sightseeing drive around Scotland (Loch Lomond, Isle of Skye, the Highlands, and Cairngorms national park), when I arrived to Edinburgh.

I went to the BBC Scotland studio one afternoon, excitedly got set up on the mic, and waited to hear her on the other end. We had a 30 minute conversation, and she said she’d let me know when it was live.

She asked me about leaving my job, how many countries I’ve visited, my work, relationships, Remote Year, and when I think I’ll stop life on the road…

The whole interviewing + studio recording experience was super fun, and it reenergized me to get my podcast out the door. (I have 12 interviews recorded & just need to edit and publish. Are you a sound engineer? Say hi if so!) I still have lots to learn about how to give good soundbites & quick responses, but it’s just a matter of practice, right?

Yesterday, I got an email that the interview was featured on “Out for the Weekend” and you can listen too!

And we hear about one woman who has left her conventional life behind her and now travels around the world, visiting a new place every month. Katherine Conaway tells us her story.

I start around 1h45m in to the interview, and my segment is about 9 minutes long:

Katherine works remotely while she travels the world — on the road since June 2014. If you liked this piece, please give it some *claps* below & share. Thank you!
