Letting Go of Anxiety; Keeping Boundaries

Lessons from Spring Equinox Yoga

Recently, I was taking a yoga class taught by a friend of mine (Fringe & Flow).

It was around the time of the spring equinox, and so during our savasana (final resting pose), she asked us:

“With spring blooming, what are you letting go of? What can you learn from it?”

In the moment and after class, I thought about her question.

I was feeling heavy and tired. I wanted to let go of something. I wanted to bloom, too.

Above all else, I felt ready to let go of anxiety.

Everything about this pandemic has exponentially increased my anxiety. The fear of COVID has grown to encompass a fear of other people, of public spaces, of close contact.

These are things I was never afraid of in this way before; I always existed very much in the outside world, comfortable in public places.

I have lived in Italy, Morocco, and Bulgaria, besides the USA. I have traveled to 50+ countries. I have been on the road since 2014. I love being in different places, pushing myself beyond the edges of my comfort zone, finding rewards in tasting new flavors and learning new histories.
